Summary This story begins telling a story about a boy who who doesn't like to write poetry and thinks poetry is something only for girls. The boy, Jack comes to love poetry as he discovers things about various poems that he likes or can identify with that his teacher reads to the class. He starts off writing poems but wants his teacher to keep them anonymous until he is inspired by a famous poet, Walter Dean Myers, who changes Jack's perspective about writing and who he is.
