Summary This story is about a boy who gets sent to a correctional camp for a crime he didn't commit all due to his bad luck and great-great grandfather's bad luck. At this camp children are instructed to dig holes. The stories plot interwines with Stanley's great-great grandfather's story. 
Description of how you would use the book I have used this book to teach literay elements. It is a fantastic example of the use of flashbacks and some forshadowing as well.
